What is Lead Project Monitoring?

Lead project monitoring involves on-site oversight of lead abatement, renovation, or remediation projects by a California Department of Public Health (CDPH) certified Lead Project Monitor. The monitor verifies that workers follow proper containment, work practices, and cleanup procedures to protect building occupants, workers, and the surrounding environment from lead contamination.

When is Lead Project Monitoring Required?

Lead project monitoring is typically required for abatement projects regulated under California’s Lead-Safe Housing Rule, the City of San Diego Lead Hazard Prevention and Control Ordinance, HUD-funded renovation projects, and any project disturbing lead-based paint in pre-1978 residential or child-occupied facilities under the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule.
